Integrated Analyses

Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&Rs)

Xfmea's integrated DVP&R utility provides a configurable worksheet for design verification plans and reports. You can create each plan from scratch or import data from Excel. You also can transfer data from the FMEA that has been defined for the same item. For example, you may wish to use the controls (and perhaps some types of recommended actions) from the Design FMEA as the starting point for a new DVP&R.

Transfer Design FMEA to Process FMEA

Transferring relevant data from the Design FMEA can provide a useful starting point for a new Process FMEA. For example, the failure causes that have been identified for your design can be transferred as failure modes to consider when analyzing the manufacturing process. Xfmea’s flexible Transfer Projects utility allows you to specify what information will be transferred and how it will be mapped to the new analysis.

Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)

A process flow diagram provides a logical, visual depiction of the process that is being analyzed. Such diagrams can be useful to determine the steps in the process and the critical characteristics that will be analyzed in a Process FMEA. If you don't have existing diagram files that you wish to attach to the analysis, Xfmea provides a Process Flow Diagram utility that allows you to build these diagrams and store them together with your FMEAs.

Process Control Plans (PCPs)

Xfmea's integrated Control Plan utility provides a configurable worksheet for process control plans. You can create a plan from scratch or import data from Excel. You also can transfer data from the FMEA that has been defined for the same item. For example, you may wish to use the process steps (items or functions) and current controls from the Process FMEA as the starting point for a new process control plan.

Design Reviews Based on Failure Mode (DRBFMs)

You can use the design review based on failure mode (DRBFM) methodology to evaluate proposed changes to an existing design. Xfmea's integrated DRBFM utility provides a configurable worksheet patterned after the method developed within Toyota Motor Corporation. The software makes it easy to import selected functions from an existing FMEA and also to append selected data from the DRBFM to update the FMEA.

Integration with Other ReliaSoft Software

Whenever integration might be useful, Xfmea facilitates communication with other ReliaSoft software products.

  • Xfmea’s Item Reliability and Cause Probability features are integrated with ReliaSoft's Weibull++® and ALTA® software packages. This allows you to obtain the reliability distribution and parameters from an existing data analysis file.
  • You can export system configuration, reliability and failure mode data to ReliaSoft's BlockSim® software for more detailed system analysis using either reliability block diagrams (RBDs) or fault trees.
  • Xfmea can import from and export to ReliaSoft's Web-based XFRACAS® failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system. You can use the FRACAS data to identify failure modes and determine the frequency with which particular problems have occurred in the field.
  • Xfmea is fully integrated with ReliaSoft's RCM++® software for Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis. Any database that you create with Xfmea can be opened with RCM++ and vice versa.
  • Xfmea provides integration with the FMEA template collections that are available through ReliaSoft's FMEA Accelerator®. Used properly, these "generic analyses" can speed up and improve the quality of your FMEAs.
